庭审致特朗普竞选资金激增

In a historic court appearance Tuesday, former President Donald Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 felony criminal charges of falsifying business records in a Manhattan criminal court. Prosecutors also alleged that Trump sought to undermine the integrity of the 2016 election through a hush money scheme with payments made to women who claimed they had extramarital affairs with Trump. After the arraignment, Trump flew back to his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, where he delivered a speech. “I never thought anything like this could happen in America, never thought it could happen,” Trump said. The next in-person hearing is scheduled for December 4. The Trump campaign raised more than $5 million in donations in the 48 hours after indictment news, according to Axios.

Finland formally joined NATO to become the alliance’s 31st member on Tuesday. The event marks the end of an era of strategic non-alignment for Finland that began after the country repelled an attempted Soviet invasion during World War Two and opted to maintain friendly relations with neighboring Russia. Finland's accession roughly doubles the length of the border that NATO shares with Russia. In dropping non-alignment, Russia's Foreign Ministry said, Finland was committing a dangerous historical mistake that would fray relations with Moscow. Putin has long howled against NATO’s expansion eastward and partly used that as a justification for his country's war with Ukraine.
NASA重启登月计划

On Monday, NASA revealed the crew for its upcoming Artemis II mission, which will mark the first time in our species’ history that an astronaut of color, and a female astronaut have ventured beyond low-Earth orbit to visit lunar space. This female astronaut, Ms. Koch, is a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The journey is set to take off in November 2024 and expected to last about 10 days. The crew of Artemis II won’t have the honor of actually setting foot on the Moon. Their mission is to test the capabilities of the Orion capsule and its European-made service module ahead of the Artemis III mission. NASA is targeting a 2025 launch date for Artemis III, which will finally return humans to the surface of Earth’s moon. It will also mark the first time humans have touched down on the moon since the Apollo program ended in 1972.欧佩克减产 油价跳涨

The group known as OPEC+ announced Sunday it would cut oil production by more than 1.6 million barrels a day starting in May, running through the end of the year. The national average for US gas prices are getting up to $3.80 to $3.90 in relatively short order. The Biden administration criticized the latest OPEC+ announcement. The U.S. has lobbied for oil-producing countries to increase supply and support lower energy prices to sustain economic growth while also constraining a vital revenue stream used by Russia to finance its war effort. The fossil fuel industry said the U.S. should boost domestic production to reduce reliance on foreign producers.
空客于马克龙访华后签下巨单

Airbus announced on Thursday it signed a 160 commercial aircraft purchase agreement with a Chinese partner, and it will open a second assembly line in Tianjin. The package deal was made as French President Emmanuel Macron made a state visit to China. Macron's visit is the first time a European leader visited China after China fully reopened exchanges with other countries. The war in Ukraine is front and center during Macron’s three-day state visit to China as he looks to use Beijing’s influence with the Kremlin to support peace efforts. Trade is another major focus for the French leader during his visit. Macron invited European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to his meeting with Xi. The move is meant to show overall European unity on economic issues.

The average long-term U.S. mortgage rate dipped for the fourth straight week as spring season opened. Freddie Mac reported Thursday that the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.28% in the week ending April 6, down from 6.32% the week before. The average rate last year at this time was 4.72%. After hitting a 2022 high of 7.08% in November, rates started 2023 trending down. “Home prices continue to show signs of softening, a welcomed development for buyers. This week’s rate also creates an opportunity for potential buyers to dive in while rates are slightly lower.” said Hannah Jones, economic research analyst at Realtor.com.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed a bill Wednesday repealing the state's nearly century-old abortion ban. “This is long overdue,” she said in a statement on Twitter. After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last summer, questions remained about whether or not the 1931 law would be put back in place. A Michigan state judge ruled in September that the ban is unconstitutional, barring any state prosecutors from enforcing it. Two months later, in the November mid-term elections, Michiganders voted in favor of a constitutional amendment that would add protections for reproductive rights.

The Lansing-based Sparrow Health System has officially become part of University of Michigan Health, overcoming regulatory approvals to become one of the state's largest health care systems, valued at $7 billion with 11 hospitals and 43,820 employees — 3,844 of whom are physicians. The Ann Arbor-based University of Michigan Health pledged to provide an $800 million investment over the next eight years in Sparrow's six hospital campuses, funding facility projects, operations and other "strategic investments." Among them are renovations to the neonatal intensive care unit at E.W. Sparrow Hospital in Lansing and upgrades to services in cardiology, oncology, orthopedics and neuroscience. The deal was completed last Saturday, but no new name for the combined health system was announced Monday. This is the latest in a series of recent acquisitions and mergers among Michigan hospitals. The 2022 megamerger of Beaumont and Spectrum to form the new Corewell Health created Michigan's largest health system with 22 hospitals and more than 60,000 employees.

As the dog census approaches, the County reminds owners to purchase License. Each summer, the Oakland County Animal Control Division conducts a census to ensure compliance with the Michigan State Dog Law of 1919 that requires all dogs four months of age and older to have a license. People may usually purchase a dog license from staff at their local city, village, or township hall, from many veterinary offices, at our location 1200 N Telegraph Rd Bldg. 42E, Pontiac (either in person or via mail), or online at oakgov.com/petadoption. From January 1st until June 1st, the price for a dog license is $15.00 for a dog that has been spayed/neutered and $25.00 for a dog that has not been spayed/neutered. Senior Citizens age 65 and up can purchase a dog license for $14.00 (dog spayed or neutered) or $23.00 (dog not spayed or neutered). However, beginning June 2nd, people who have not purchased a current year dog license are considered delinquent. After June 1st, all dog licenses cost $40.00. The Oakland County Board of Commissioners set these fees. On June 2nd, Oakland County Animal Control Census Team workers will begin going door to door in various communities in an attempt to bring the public into compliance with the State Law. Residents found to have dogs that are not licensed will be issued Delinquent Notices by our census team workers and given a period of time to comply with the law. Afterwards, an Oakland County Animal Control Officer will issue citations that will require a court appearance to your residents who do not purchase licenses after being advised to do so.
